Wizards of the Coast has announced new expansions coming to Magic: The Gathering in the year ahead and they span popular video game series. All the new expansions are set to launch in early 2024 and will continue the collaborations with other franchises which follow the recent The Lord of the Rings and Doctor Who.
The first expansion is the Fallout version which will launch in Q1 of 2024. Wizards of the Coast will then launch the Assassin’s Creed Magic: The Gathering expansion in Q3 of 2024. There’s also a Final Fantasy expansion headed your way. However, the company hasn’t announced a date for that yet. By the sound of things, it might be scheduled for Q4 of 2024.

While very little detail has been shared regarding this collaboration at the moment, collectors can likely expect booster packs and collectable boxes with promo cards. This is similar to the launch we saw with The Lord of the Rings.
We don’t know how rare these cards will be yet. The previous One Ring card, which was the only card ever made in existence, recently sold for over $2 million. However, given the possibility of there being only one ring made in the series, these upcoming expansions will have to find a similar mechanic to follow its success.
It will be interesting to see how popular these themed expansions do when they release. They are planned to launch in-between other Magic: The Gathering themed content which means fans will have to keep up with the purchases.
