The massive patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3 is finally out on consoles and PC, bringing with it 12 new subclasses, a photo mode, various tweaks and improvements, and much more. However, players who want to jump headfirst into the new subclasses from the start of the game might be surprised to discover that many of them actually have unlock requirements. Players are required to progress to a specific level for certain classes in order to unlock the new subclasses.
The unlock requirements for several new subclasses in Baldur’s Gate 3 thankfully aren’t steep. Many subclasses simply need players to progress to as far as level 3 in order to unlock them. Some subclasses, such as the Hexblade Warlock or Shadow Magic Sorcerer, can be used from the very beginning of the game while others will require a bit of work to get to. Unlocking new subclasses this way was pretty common in the base game too.
Here’s a list of the unlock requirements for each class and subclass:
- Path of the Giant Barbarian – Unlocked at Barbarian level 3
- College of Glamour Bard – Unlocked at Bard level 3
- Death Domain Cleric – Unlocked at Cleric level 1
- Circle of Stars Druid – Unlocked at Druid level 2
- Arcane Archer Fighter – Unlocked at Fighter level 3
- Way of the Drunken Master Monk – Unlocked at Monk level 3
- Oath of the Crown Paladin – Unlocked at Paladin level 1
- Swarmkeeper Ranger – Unlocked at Ranger level 3
- Swashbuckler Rogue – Unlocked at Rogue level 3
- Shadow Magic Sorcerer – Unlocked at Sorcerer level 1
- Hexblade Warlock – Unlocked at Warlock level 1
- Bladesinging Wizard – Unlocked at Wizard level 2
Along with the new content for patch 8, developer Larian Studios has finally added split-screen co-op to the Xbox Series S version, more than a year after it launched on Microsoft’s lower-end console. Due to the limitations of the Series S compared to its beefier Series X counterpart, some cutbacks understandably had to be made, though Larian has finally figured it out.
Baldur’s Gate 3 patch 8 is now available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
