Scott Derrickson has exited as director for the upcoming Marvel Dr Strange 2 over “creative differences” with the studio. According to sources, Derrickson will remain as an executive producer alongside Kevin Feige for Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness but has left the director’s chair for the film.

The movie is expected to bring back Benedict Cumberbatch with Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch in this highly anticipated sequel to the film that made almost 700$ million worldwide.
According to Variety, Marvel Studios and Scott Derrickson parted ways due to creative differences. Derrickson expressed his love for the brand on Twitter stating he will remain on as executive producer for the film.
Marvel and I have mutually agreed to part ways on Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences. I am thankful for our collaboration and will remain on as EP.

Production for Dr Strange 2, Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is expected to kick off in May this year and Marvel has already begun looking for a replacement director for the project. The film is set to release on 7 May 2021.
Not much is known about the film as of yet but we know it will tie in the next instalment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Jade Halley Bartlett has been brought on board to help write the script.
