A Marvel MMO is currently in the works from DC Universe Online developer Dimensional Ink Studios. The game was revealed via an investor presentation published by parent company Enad Global 7, which revealed a slide in the presentation confirming a Marvel MMO to be in development.
The investor presentation included a slide which notes an “unannounced MMORPG” which is set to be a “Marvel IP based massively multiplayer online game.” The game’s development is being led by Jack Emmert, who currently heads up the team behind DC Universe Online.

The ambitious Marvel MMO was first leaked in 2019 via concept art which showed off former developer Daybreak’s attempt at a massive multiplayer online game set within the Marvel universe. The project since seemingly shifted to Dimensional Ink Studios, who already have a lot of experience developing superhero-based MMORPGs based on their popular free-to-play game DC Universe Online.
Twitter user Miller pulled the slide which mentions the Marvel MMO:
There are plenty of Marvel gaming projects currently in development apart from this MMO. Insomniac Games are currently working on two PS5 exclusives in the forms of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine. Meanwhile, XCOM developer Firaxis Games are developing the tactical-based Marvel’s Midnight Suns. Apart from Insomniac’s work on the previous Spider-Man games, we also saw the releases of both Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and the much more maligned live-service based Marvel’s Avengers from Square Enix.
It’s also heavily rumoured that NetherRealm Studios, the developers behind Injustice and Mortal Kombat, might also be working on a Marvel fighter of their own.
With so many Marvel gaming projects in the works, it looks like fans will be well fed for the next few years. Regarding Dimensional Ink Studios’ Marvel MMO, an announcement is expected to happen in Q1 2022 and might release on all major consoles and PC.
