The upcoming Marvel’s Avengers could be one of the better-looking superhero games on the horizon but that does not mean it won’t feature modern-day game mechanics like microtransactions. Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix has revealed the game will feature cosmetics which you will have to purchase using in-game currency bought through real money.
The announcement was found on the latest blog post detailing Captain America and his Secret Empire outfit. Apart from giving us a brief glimpse at the character, his costume and the origin of both, the blog post revealed how you will access other outfits for the playable characters.
It is completely possible to have a superhero video game and not lock costumes behind in-game purchases. Marvel’s Spider-Man featured over a dozen unique costumes all available through in-game rewards and progression which gave players an incentive for fighting through the hardest parts of the game.
It seems you will have to fork out some cash if you want to unlock some special costumes in the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers. How much will this cost? It is uncertain at the moment but hopefully, they are small pickings.
The Marvel Universe is huge and the number of costume variations throughout the comic book series is a fairly large list. Knowing the state of the gaming industry, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics will lock the best-looking ones behind a paywall.
