Insomniac Games has hired a prolific MCU concept artist to work as the art director on the upcoming superhero game, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. As reported by Video Games Chronicle, Davison Carvalho joined the team back in February, having worked several MCU projects and some high-profile games as well.
Carvalho will lead the charge on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 as the game’s art director. The artist worked as a freelance concept artist on several MCU projects including Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, Thor: Ragnarok and Captain Marvel.

Additionally, Carvalho worked on a few gaming projects as well, mainly specialising in UI for Mortal Kombat X, Halo Infinite and Lone Echo, among others.
Given the artist’s familiarity with Marvel projects, he seems like a natural fit on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 as art director. It helps that Carvalho also has some experience working in the gaming industry.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was first unveiled in 2021 and touted as a direct sequel to both Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The sequel will feature both Peter Parker and Miles as they seemingly have to face the symbiote and lethal protector, Venom.
Insomniac Games previously released the PS5 exclusive Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart last year, which received critical acclaim upon release for its impressive (and near non-existent) loading times. It’s rumoured that the studio is also working on a large-scale multiplayer project, in addition to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise either as it marks a big push by PlayStation to produce several live-service titles in the next few years, with both Naughty Dog and Bend Studio working on them. However, for the company’s sake, we hope this doesn’t impact PlayStation’s acclaimed single-player offerings which are still industry-leading juggernauts today.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is currently in development exclusively for PS5.
