Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the upcoming open-world superhero game from Insomniac Games, has gone live on the PlayStation Store, suggesting that some news might be coming soon. Fans on Reddit quickly spotted the page which appeared on the PlayStation Store earlier today, though didn’t list any other information.
To add a little more fuel to the fire, Insomniac’s community director James Stevenson recently posted a GIF of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which fans believe is a tease for an upcoming announcement or new trailer reveal. While it could just be the developers having a bit of fun, the timing of the GIF and the game going live on the PlayStation Store is a bit too coincidental.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was first announced during a PlayStation event in 2021. So far, we know that we’ll be playing as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales. We’ll also be going up against Venom, voiced by Candyman actor Tony Todd. He had a bit to say about the menacing villain recently, which you can read more about here.
The only information provided on the PlayStation Store page for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 reads:
“Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the next game in the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise. Developed by Insomniac Games for the PlayStation®5 console in collaboration with PlayStation and Marvel Games.”
If an announcement is coming much sooner than we expected, this begs the question of why Sony didn’t opt to show it at The Game Awards last week. The company had a big presence at the event, unveiling a release date for the PS5-exclusive Final Fantasy XVI as well as the Burning Shores expansion for Horizon Forbidden West – not to mention God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West and Stray being nominated for several awards.
On the other hand, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is arguably the biggest PS5 exclusive launching in 2023, so it’s understandable that Sony would want to give it a dedicated showcase, perhaps as a new State of Play. As with all rumours, take this with a pinch of salt.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is currently in development for PS5.
