Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is Still on Track to Release in 2023

Developer Insomniac Games has confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is still on track to release in 2023 despite the studio not sharing any information over the past few months about it. The anticipated sequel will be a PS5 exclusive and focuses on both Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they team up to take on Venom and other villains from Spider-Man’s rogues gallery.

Responding to a concerned fan on Twitter asking about the progress of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Insomniac Games revealed that the game is still slated to release in 2023, adding “showing games takes time, effort, resources and coordination.” PlayStation has yet to announce an event where the exclusive superhero game might appear. Judging by Insomniac’s response, it’s likely that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 might launch in late 2023 since nothing concrete has been shown yet.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be a direct sequel to 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man and 2020’s Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. This isn’t the only major Marvel project currently being developed by Insomniac Games, however, as the studio previously announced that it’s also working on Marvel’s Wolverine, though that might still be years off from release. According to a job listing posted back in April, Insomniac is also working on an unannounced multiplayer title.

Despite the developer being quiet about the status of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, some information about the game has seemingly managed to trickle online. A rumour that circulated the internet earlier this year revealed quite a few details about the sequel, including the existence of a third playable character beyond Peter and Miles. However, since this report originates from an anonymous 4chan leak, we recommend taking it with a mountain of salt.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is still on track to release sometime in 2023 exclusively for PS5. So far, we’ve only received a reveal trailer which you can watch below.
