Insomniac Games has detailed Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launch day update and shared information on what the patch does to improve the game. While the game is a relatively smooth experience, we had no issues during our review, you should always make sure you have the latest version installed.
According to the studio, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 update 1.001.002 is the patch which will be live on launch day. Insomniac Games says that the patch improves the opening section of the game and includes some generation refinements to the game. It also comes with some additional accessibility options.

Insomniac Games says the digital version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will already include the latest update 1.001.002 so you don’t have to worry if you have already pre-loaded the game. The notice is more for those picking up the physical edition.
Keep in mind that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 comes on the disc available as a standalone purchase online. Those who purchased the Limited Edition Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PS5 console or the Collector’s Edition will need to redeem the included code to download the game.
As far as we know, pre-loads for these versions aren’t available. You’ll only be able to pre-load the digital code version on launch day.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches on 20 October for PS5. We reviewed the game this week and gave it a 9/10. We praised the game for ditching its sandbox open-world mechanics in favour of a focused, action-packed story which builds on an exciting universe.
