Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Release Date is Coming ‘Soon’ Says Insomniac

Insomniac Games recently debuted the first gameplay for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and most fans agree that it was a very solid showing, though it lacked a vital piece of information that would’ve been the cherry on top: a release date. As it stands, the anticipated superhero sequel is still coming out in the fall 2023 window. Insomniac has now assured fans that a release date is coming “soon” alongside some pre-order information.

After the PlayStation Showcase, Insomniac Games took to Twitter to inform fans that they won’t have to wait too long for a release date and pre-order information for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. “Watching your reactions today has been spectacular,” said the studio. “We know you have tons of questions about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and we’re eager to share more soon, including news about the release date, pre-orders, and accessibility features.”

The PlayStation Showcase was the perfect opportunity for Insomniac to announce a release date following its strong showing, so it’s bizarre that we got another “coming fall 2023” message. Perhaps Insomniac and PlayStation haven’t nailed down an exact date yet or it already has one but the companies are simply waiting to announce it closer to the time. A similar situation happened with God of War Ragnarok launched in November last year but a release date was only announced a few months earlier in July.

Sony may choose to dedicate a State of Play Presentation to showcasing more of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 sometime in the near future if it plans on announcing all the information fans would really like to hear, including pre-order details, accessibility features and that concrete release date.

If you didn’t catch the gameplay reveal of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker is shown using his symbiote powers as he dons the notorious black suit while Miles Morales gives chase to an overgrown Lizard. The game is currently in development exclusively for PS5.
