Insomniac Games has revealed a new look at Venom for its anticipated upcoming superhero game, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The game is currently scheduled to appear at San Diego Comic Con during Marvel’s panel which hopefully means a new trailer. However, to give us just a taste of what’s to come, Insomniac has released an image of antagonist Venom showing the character’s design in a little more detail.
Insomniac Games creative director Bryan Intihar spoke to Entertainment Weekly recently to promote the appearance of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 at San Diego Comic Con later this week. Venom will be voiced by Candyman actor Tony Todd, though according to Intihar, he put off casting the character “for as long as possible, because I was so scared of who we were going to get to do the voice.”

Intihar added in the interview that casting Todd was the right call in the end, stating:
“Everything we talked about [with] Venom — that sense of strength, that sense of fear, that sense of overwhelming, so different from Peter — Tony embraces that completely in the performance.”
Tony Todd’s most notable role is in Candyman but he also played Death in the Final Destination series.
Discussing Venom’s unique design and the difficulties of creating his movement and relatability, Insomniac senior art director Jacinda Chew said:
“One of the challenges we had throughout production was, how much does [Venom] talk? I remember we did some concepts early on [of] does Venom have lips? Does he laugh? Does he smile? Does he frown? It’s a fine line between making this creature scary and intimidating, but then also, I guess, relatable.”
