Insomniac Games revealed a brand new gameplay trailer for its upcoming PS5 exclusive superhero game, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Thanks to a walkthrough of the various new gameplay mechanics and features from director Bryan Intihar, we learned quite a few details about the game including its addition of 65 unique suits lifted from various comics, movies and other medium including some original designs from the developer.
The gameplay trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 debuted at last night’s PlayStation State of Play and kicked with a look at the size of the map. As Insomniac Games previously revealed, the map will be almost twice the size of the first game and also encompass the areas of Queens and Brooklyn on the adjacent island. Players will be able to seamlessly switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales while out exploring.

Insomniac Games also talked about the organic way it’s now choosing to tell its main story. Instead of simply rushing over to map points, in most cases, main quests will be triggered by exploration and coming across oddities in the world like strange floating green symbols, drones flying about or other mysterious things. This usually leads to new story threads that expand upon the main quest.
Most of all, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will include a total of 65 different suits that can each be customised to over 200 variations. Some of these suits seem to be making a return from the first game and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales but for the most part, a good majority of them will be new aesthetics inspired by various Spider-Man-related movies, shows, comics and other media.
Sony previously revealed a limited edition PS5 console for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 containing a themed DualSense controller and face plates. Make sure you have enough room on your PS5 as the game will apparently require nearly 100 GB of free hard drive space.
