Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered for PS5 is finally gettnig a standalone release. Insomniac Games and PlayStation have confirmed that it will be made available for $49,99 on the PlayStation Store later this month. Players who already own a physical or digital copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4 can upgrade to the PS5 remaster for a fee of $10.
The only way players could play Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered before was through the Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition which came bundled with the digital remaster as a bonus. Fans initially didn’t receive the news well since there was no PS5 upgrade path available for owners of the PS4 game. That’s not an issue anymore as PS5 owners now have the option to upgrade to the remaster.

Unfortunately, the PS5 upgrade is not available for players who claimed Marvel’s Spider-Man via PlayStation Plus. Those who own the standard edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be able to pay a fee to upgrade to the Ultimate Edition and receive Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered as part of the package.
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered originally launched in late 2020 and brought numerous visual and technical improvements to the PS5 version including ray tracing, higher framerates, improved textures and lighting and much more, fully harnessing the power of Sony’s new hardware. It would later be ported to PC.
In related news, a new report suggests that the sequel, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, will release in September exclusively for PS5. Continuing the story from the previous games, the sequel follows Peter Parker and Miles Morales as the new Spider-Men duo in Manhattan. They may have to contend with their most fearsome adversary yet when the symbiote and lethal protector Venom appears.
Sony is reportedly set to host a big PlayStation Showcase later this month or in early June which is rumoured to feature Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and plenty of new announcements that pave the road ahead for PS5.
