Insomniac Games is working on not only one but two superhero games. The studio announced the much-anticipated sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man that continues the story of Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they confront Venom. Another shocking announcement is the Marvel’s Wolverine game that is also currently in development at the PlayStation Studios developer. Insomniac Games says that Marvel’s Wolverine is a standalone game that will explore the deep character while also pushing the PS5 to new limits.
In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Insomniac Games shared a few new details on the game’s development and why the studio decided to go with Wolverine as the next game.

Insomniac Games says that they constantly brought up Wolverine during their initial brainstorming sessions. Even during the initial development of Marvel’s Spider-Man, the team always had a feeling they would tackle a game starring the adamantium-clawed Mutant. They originally pitched the game to Sony as a PS5 exclusive knowing at the time that they would tackle it as a future generation title. Fast forward a few years and the pitch was a success and Marvel’s Wolverine is now happening.
The studio says that they love Wolverine because much like Spider-Man, he also defends people who are less able to do so. While Insomniac Games is working on both Spider-Man and Wolverine, the studio has clarified that the game is a standalone experience. It sounds as if they want to squash all hopes that the two Marvel characters might be building a gaming universe at the studio.
Marvel’s Wolverine is being steered by Brian Horton (creative director) and Cameron Christian (game director). Both people worked on Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales. However, don’t get your hopes up for an early release. Marvel’s Wolverine is still in very early development. The upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is scheduled for a 2023 release so Wolverine might be on its way after that.
Even though the game is still a distant release, Insomniac Games says fans should prepare for an emotional story combined with cutting-edge gameplay. Watch the Marvel’s Wolverine trailer below.
