Mass Effect trilogy director Casey Hudson has confirmed that he’s working on a new AAA multi-platform sci-fi game set within a new universe. This will be the first game from his newly established Humanoid Studios, though exact details weren’t provided yet.
Hudson formed his new development studio Humanoid Studios last June and this week the company unveiled that they’ve been working on a new project. “Our current project is a multi platform AAA game, focusing on character-driven narrative in an all-new science-fiction universe,” said the company.

In addition to the announcement, Humanoid Studios also released a few concept art images to give us a taste of what’s to come from the company:
The project currently doesn’t have an official title yet, but they confirmed that it will be multi-platform and judging by the images, seems to be quite grandiose in scope. The company size is unknown, but it currently has 17 employees registered on LinkedIn, and are currently hiring for 14 more positions.
The company’s website added:
“We believe in the power of small, agile teams, and a flat organizational structure, where everyone is empowered to make decisions and help drive the project vision. Delivering magical interactive storytelling, by connecting talented creatives to powerful tools, in a safe and supportive environment.”
Hudson originally served as the director of the original Mass Effect trilogy under BioWare before leaving following the third game’s release. However, Hudson would return to the studio to complete his work on Anthem before departing again to form a new company.
The project might still be a few years off from release so it’s unlikely that we’ll see an official reveal anytime soon. The concept art is very enticing and shows promise, though.
Meanwhile, EA and developer BioWare are moving forward with a new installment in the Mass Effect series, which currently doesn’t have a release date yet.
