Meta is releasing a special Xbox-themed version of its Quest 3S headset. The titled “Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition” comes with some minor tweaks to the design of the headset but ultimately aims to deliver an Xbox-skinned version thanks to its black and green design.
Apart from being black with some green trimmings, the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition does come with the Meta Quest Elite strap that features a hard plastic back and plastic arms. This head strap is a night and day difference compared to the original fabric strap bundled in the Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
You’ll also get three months of Xbox Game Pass and three months of the Meta Horizon+ subscription. The bundle also comes with a fancy limited edition Xbox Wireless Controller that is only available in this version of the headset. Of course, the Touch Plus controllers are also included, and are in black.
The partnership with Meta comes as a push for Xbox Cloud gaming. If you don’t know, the Meta Quest supports Xbox Cloud Gaming through the Xbox app. Users can stream their games directly from the cloud. Sadly, this service isn’t available in SA, so if you do end up picking up the headset, you’ll just be getting a fancy-looking VR headset and won’t really get to use any of the Xbox features. Still, the bundle looks quite cool.
The Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition retails for $399 and is available on the Meta website. Microsoft shared the news alongside a statement praising the tech inside the headset. Lori Wright, Corporate VP of Xbox partnerships and marketing, said;
“Over the past several years, Xbox has expanded the Xbox cloud gaming experience to more places and more players. Since the announcement of the Xbox app on Quest, our goal has been to empower more people to play their favorite games whenever and wherever they want. We’re proud of what we’ve built together with Meta, and we can’t wait for you to dive into everything the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition has to offer. Whether you’re streaming the latest Xbox Game Pass Ultimate titles, exploring the ever-expanding world of VR, or kicking back with immersive entertainment, this is just the beginning of what’s possible when great teams and great technology come together.”
