Metal Gear Rising 10th Anniversary Event Announced

PlatinumGames has revealed a 10th anniversary event for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. The event will take place on 21 February and feature brand-new artwork but not much else was teased for the celebration.

PlatinumGames took to social media to announce the Metal Gear Rising 10th anniversary event. So far, all we know is that the company is planning to commemorate the game by revealing some new art but beyond that, it’s anyone’s guess what will be talked about. Of course, there have been reports of Metal Gear Rising receiving a remaster but we recommend taking that with a pinch of salt.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance released on 19 February 2013 for PS3 and Xbox 360 as a spin-off to Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear franchise. The game focused on cyborg Raiden following the events of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Instead of keeping the franchise’s action-stealth blueprints, PlatinumGames made it a fast-paced hack-and-slash game with arguably some fantastic and unique gameplay.

We’ve now heard from multiple reports that Konami is looking to revive the Metal Gear franchise in a big way, similar to what the company did with Silent Hill. This may include remasters and remakes of older Metal Gear Solid games, but we have yet to hear anything concrete. Rising is among one of the more beloved entries that fans have been requesting to get a remaster, so hopefully Konami has something in the works.

In related news, PlatinumGames revealed last year that it has multiple unannounced projects currently in development. The studio released Bayonetta 3 last year to critical success and are also working on a mysterious project called Project GG. However, the developer also stated that it’s working on a new in-house IP as well.

Stay tuned for more news surrounding the Metal Gear Rising anniversary event when it kicks off later this month.
