Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake Konami 2024

Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake Isn’t PlayStation Exclusive – Report

Ahead of the upcoming PlayStation Showcase this week, rumours have continued to roll in about a potential Metal Gear Solid 3 remake. A few credible reporters have since stepped forward to corroborate these claims including Video Games Chronicle, so there’s a good chance we might see the return of Snake Eater. Earlier this year, reports also surfaced about Sony apparently securing exclusivity deals with publisher Konami, leading many to believe that the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake will be PlayStation exclusive.

According to a new report from Insider Gaming, which has a mostly solid track record, that doesn’t seem to be the case. The site’s sources claim that the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake will not be exclusive to PlayStation platforms despite the several rumours online. Insider Gaming adds that the announcement that’s set to take place at the PlayStation Showcase will only be a teaser and won’t include any gameplay.

The report adds that the remake will launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam, though is unsure if PlayStation will have some exclusive rights to DLC or marketing. As with all rumours and reports, take this with a pinch of salt for now.

The Metal Gear Solid 3 remake is likely being developed by Virtuos Studios as a few employees at the company previously teased that they were working on an unannounced remake, as per VGC. Konami has been trying to regain its footing in the gaming market again after announcing a wave of new Silent Hill games. Given the popularity of its other massive IPs including Metal Gear and Castlevania, it’s only a matter of time before we hear more about those projects.

It’s unlikely that Hideo Kojima, the creator of the Metal Gear franchise, will be involved in the rumoured remake. Kojima’s notorious falling out with Konami led the famed creator to exit the company several years ago and establish his own studio, Kojima Productions, which has since worked on Death Stranding and currently has a few projects in development including Death Stranding 2 and a leaked horror game called Overdose.
