Metal Gear Solid 4 Teased For Modern Platforms by Konami

Konami has teased the possibility of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots coming to modern platforms. The game has notoriously been locked to PS3 and has since never received an official remaster or port onto newer hardware. However, that might all change soon with the release of the Master Collection Vol. 2 which may finally give players answers.

Speaking to IGN in a recent interview, Konami producer Noriaki Okamura was asked if Metal Gear Solid 4 would ever come to modern consoles. Okamura stated that the company is aware of the demand, though remained cryptic in his response.

Okamura replied:

“Unfortunately, we can’t really say too much at the moment with Vol. 1 containing MGS 1-3 dot dot dot… you can probably connect the dots! Right now, we still are internally concerned about what we should be doing for the future of the series. So sorry, we can’t really reveal anything at the moment. But stay tuned!”

Okamura seemed to imply that Metal Gear Solid 4 could be part of Vol. 2 when it releases. This isn’t the first time that we’ve heard of this particular rumour. In November last year, Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter shared an image on his social media saying that he “had a pretty cool meeting today”, posing with a statue of the older Snake from the fourth Metal Gear Solid game. Fans speculated that Hayter had met with Konami about the second volume of the Master Collection – specifically, for Metal Gear Solid 4.

Konami hasn’t officially announced Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 yet but we now have a good idea of what to expect. If the fourth game is ever brought to modern consoles, hopefully in a remastered form, it would be great news for players who have been waiting over a decade to experience the title without having to go out and buy an entire PS3 console to do so.
