Metal Gear Solid rumours have been on a roll over the past year, including reports about full remakes of the original Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and a remastered collection of the series. While none have come to fruition yet, it seems like Konami might be making some new announcements related to the franchise soon according to voice actor Quinton Flynn, who plays Raiden in several MGS games.
Flynn responded to a fan on Twitter recently asking about the potential of a Metal Gear Rising sequel. The voice actor then teased, “Stay tuned for things to be announced in the coming weeks.” Most have taken this as a sign that Konami might put on a showcase of the Metal Gear franchise similar to what the company did last year with Silent Hill. It’s possible that we’ll get reveals for several upcoming Metal Gear Solid projects.

Fans are hopeful that a Metal Gear Rising sequel might also be announced. The original game was developed by Bayonetta studio PlatinumGames and is generally regarded as a fantastic action title. Apart from the recently released Bayonetta 3, PlatinumGames might’ve been quietly working on a Rising sequel though we can’t be sure of it yet.
Recent rumours from AreaJugones have been adament about a PS5 remake of Metal Gear Solid, which is speculated to be in development at Bluepoint. However, Video Games Chronicle previously reported that it’s actually a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater that’s in the works at Singapore-based studio Virtuous.
On the movie front, we have yet to hear any updates on the Metal Gear Solid live-action movie which still has Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts attached and Oscar Isaac starring as Solid Snake. Perhaps we’ll also get some news regarding the movie soon.
Whatever the case may be, this aligns with Konami’s previous commitment to revive several of its prized IPs which seemingly includes the Metal Gear franchise. Without creator Hideo Kojima attached anymore, we wonder how this will all play out. Hopefully Castlevania is up next.
