Metal Gear Solid Remake PS5 Development

Metal Gear Solid Remake Reportedly Coming After Snake Eater Remake

Konami is currently in the process of developing Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a full remake of the beloved Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, alongside Virtuos. However, a new report claims that a remake of the first Metal Gear Solid is also on the way and currently in pre-production.

According to Areajugones, a remake of Metal Gear Solid is in early pre-production and will be the focus for Konami after the release of the Snake Eater remake. The first game was already included in last year’s bundle, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, though it was simply an upscaled remaster as opposed to a full remake. As with all rumours and reports, take this with a pinch of salt until we get confirmation from Konami. Considering that the game might only be in early pre-production, we’re in for a long wait.

Last October, Konami provided an in-engine look at the Snake Eater remake though we have yet to see proper gameplay or get a release date for it.

Konami is also busy with numerous new Silent Hill games including a remake of Silent Hill 2 from The Medium developer Bloober Team, the interactive title Silent Hill: Townfall from publisher Annapurna and Silent Hill F, a new entry in the franchise being written by Higurashi When They Cry writer Ryukishi07.

There have been several rumours in the past about the first Metal Gear Solid potentially getting a remake, which says a lot about the very high demand for one. While it’s often remembered as a PS1 classic and masterpiece in its own right, the Shadow Moses section of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots proved that a remake was possible with updated graphics and gameplay. Konami first has to release the Snake Eater remake before any discussions can be had about more remakes, though.
