Microsoft has recently increased the price of Xbox Game Pass. Last month, we reported that the price for the service would go up ever so slightly. This means from 16 July, users subscribing to the service or renewing their plans will pay a bit more for it. However, it seems that alongside the price hike, Microsoft is also bringing back the R15 Game Pass Trial.
Earlier this year, Microsoft ended support for the R15 introductory price for Xbox Game Pass. It allowed new users to subscribe to the service for the first month at R15 or $1. Back in March, the company scrapped the offering but it has now brought it back.

This means that if you’re new to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, your first month will only cost you R15. Off course, thereafter it will cost a bit more. The current Xbox Game Pass price in South Africa is set at the following:
Xbox Game Pass South African Price
- Xbox Game Pass Ultimate/Console Trial – R15
- Xbox Game Pass Ultimate – R129 (was R119)
- Xbox Game Pass Console – R89 (was R79)
Apart from the recent price hike and a reintroduction to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate trial, Microsoft also plans on rolling out a console price hike. This will come into effect in August. We are still waiting on the official new retail price listings for South Africa. However, users can expect the Xbox Series X to go up by at least R500 starting in August.
