Microsoft Improves Ryzen Gaming Performance in New Windows 11 Update

Microsoft has buffed up the performance of Windows 11 if you have certain Ryzen CPUs. The latest Windows 11 update 24H2 includes major performance improvements for gaming with up to 11% increased performance across certain games.

Keep in mind that Microsoft says the latest Windows 11 24H2 update generally offers improved performance already. However, the company has specifically focused on Ryzen CPUs to squeeze out even more.

Some tests were run on a handful of Ryzen chips. Hardware Unboxed found an improvement of 10% across multiple games running at 1080p on the older Ryzen 7700X. Another test showed 11% on the latest Ryzen 9700X.

KitGuru tested out the Ryzen 7800X3D and Ryzen 9 7950X and found similar performance boosts. It seems both Zen 4 and Zen 5 chips have been improved in this update.

Microsoft will only launch the new Windows 11 24H2 update in September. However, if you’re part of the Windows Insider Program, you can download the update early and benefit from these improvements. You can also manually install the update using the ISO file on a new PC build.

If you do sign up for the Windows 11 Insider Program, I recommend using the “beta” build which provides a bit more stability than other early access installations.

With that being said, it is cool to see Microsoft focusing on improving these CPUs with Windows 11. The latest update will let you literally download performance to your PC. Remember back when your family would ask “How do you download more RAM”. Well, this is pretty similar.
