Microsoft to Host Starfield Interactive Launch Event – Report

Microsoft will reportedly host an interactive launch event for Bethesda’s upcoming sci-fi RPG, Starfield. With the anticipated game just a few weeks away from launch, we haven’t seen much marketing surrounding the first single-player game from Bethesda Game Studios since Fallout 4. However, it looks like that might all change soon as a new report claims that some kind of interactive event is being planned for the launch of the game.

The rumour originates from Twitter user Karim Jovian, a digital media producer and interviewer that has some reputable industry followers. According to Jovian, a source told him that Microsoft is planning an interactive launch event for Starfield. His sources were apparently “really excited” when talking to him about it, though he didn’t elaborate any further. Jovian also didn’t provide a date or time for when this will take place, so take it with a grain of salt for now.

The idea of an “interactive” launch event suggests that fans will be able to influence decisions or actions that take place during the show. In Starfield‘s case, it’s possible that Microsoft could host a livestream that features a section of gameplay where players can indirectly influence key decisions based on pop-up commands during the video or filtered through the chat, though that’s just speculation on our part.

Bethesda’s previous RPGs like The Elder Scrolls and Fallout featured multiple dialogue choices that often impacted the story and characters. Last year, Todd Howard stated that Starfield will have “classic Bethesda” dialogue options, meaning it will likely feature decision-based conversations as well.

In related news, Bethesda recently released a series of short animations offering players a glimpse at Starfield‘s universe. While the game is currently slated to launch as an Xbox console exclusive, court documents revealed that Bethesda forecasted Starfield would sell around 10 million copies on PS5 – a reasonable expectation considering that Skyrim has sold 60 million copies across every platform since launch. In fact, Starfield was almost a PS5 console exclusive before Microsoft’s acquisition of the company.

Starfield launches on 6 September 2023 for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Read up on these great space exploration games to play while you wait.
