Mike Tyson is pissed at Nintendo for apparently making a new Punch-Out game without even contacting him. But in a funny twist of events, it seems that the former professional boxer has either misunderstood a situation or leaked a new Punch-Out game, because Nintendo hasn’t officially announced or revealed that a new game is coming out.

Mike Tyson once had a hand in the Punch-Out games from Nintendo, as the games were originally called Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out. When the games we relaunched for NES, they were rebranded, too, dropping his name from the title. He was also a final boss to fight in the game, but was replaced with a character called Mr. Dream. This was all back in the early 90s.

Fast forward to 2019, and it seems the former pro boxer isn’t done with the franchise. However, he might be misinformed about an upcoming new Punch-Out game from Nintendo, or he just leaked one, as the company hasn’t even announced that a new game is being released. Also, it would seem strange that after having cut ties with Mike Tyson so long ago, Nintendo would contact him about an upcoming game, as he obviously expects.

It could be possible that the celebrity has confused a new Punch-Out game with Nintendo announcing that the original NES game will be heading to Switch Online. But even that seems to have upset the former face and name of Punch-Out.

Whether or not a new Punch-Out game is being made, is probably unlikely at this point. But it’s probably safe to assume that the former professional boxer won’t be part of the project.
