MindsEye CEO Negative Comments Paid

MindsEye Criticised for Horrendous Technical Issues at Launch

MindsEye, the latest action-adventure game from studio Build a Rocket Boy and former Grand Theft Auto producer Leslie Benzies, is facing heavy criticism since its quiet launch yesterday. The bulk of the scrutiny is aimed at the game’s abysmal technical performance and numerous issues across all platforms, leading to Mostly Negative Steam reviews overnight.

X user Synth Potato summarised most of the problems currently plaguing MindsEye. The post starts off by noting that the game is locked to 30FPS on all platforms (even PS5 Pro) with frequent stutter issues. There aren’t any options to change to quality or performance mode on consoles either. PC seems to be hit the hardest when it comes to its messy technical issues, though it’s generally riddled with bugs and glitches across the board. Crashes were also quite common for players – some experiencing crashes as early as ten minutes into the game.

If you’re wondering why there was so little buzz about MindsEye leading up to and on its release, that’s largely because early review codes weren’t sent to media outlets. The only “praise” for the game seems to be coming from sponsored content creators and influencers (which is a bit rich considering the company’s CEO accused people of being paid to say negative things about the game in their previews).

Steam reviews are currently sitting at Mixed after initially launching to Mostly Negative ratings, though even the positive reviews are stressing the game’s poor technical state.

If you’re inclined to still pick up MindsEye, its description reads:

“Welcome to the world of MindsEye, a single-player, action-adventure thriller set in the fictional near future city of Redrock – an intense, super-heated, desert metropolis where technology is king. You’ll play as Jacob as he fights to uncover his truth in a world where AI, hi-tech experimentation and unchecked military power shapes every encounter. What starts as a personal quest quickly becomes a mission that’s critical to all of humanity’s survival as sentient robots rise, propelled by human greed.”

MindsEye is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
