MindsEye Worst-Rated Game 2025

MindsEye is Currently The Worst-Rated Game of 2025

MindsEye, the latest action-adventure game from developer Build a Rocket Boy and publisher IO Interactive, has had quite a rough week since its launch. The game recently came under fire for its numerous technical issues, leading PlayStation to even offer refunds to players. However, that didn’t deter reviews from both critics and fans from tanking the game’s reputation as it’s now the worst-rated game of 2025.

According to review aggregate website Metacritic, MindsEye on PC is currently sitting at a low average of 37 based on 8 critic reviews so far. The user score isn’t any better as it’s currently rated 2.5 based on 316 reviews from players. Over on OpenCritic, MindsEye has a top critic average of 34. As it stands, it’s currently the worst-rated game of 2025, though it’s also worth noting that due to no early review codes being sent out, those averages might change for the better or worse as more reviews are submitted.

The biggest complaint for MindsEye is its technical problems and bugs though other reviews have noted that there’s a lot more to criticise than just its abysmal performance. According to user and critic reviews, the game’s short length, unpolished state, bland missions and uninteresting story all contributed towards its negative reception.

“Although it shows some early promise, MindsEye is sunk by a ridiculous story, inconsistent writing, poorly designed mission scenarios, and utterly atrocious combat,” wrote Eurogamer.

“MindsEye is an oddity. For all its failings, I rarely disliked playing it, and yet it’s also difficult to sincerely recommend. Its ideas, its moment-to-moment action and narrative are so thinly conceived that it barely exists. And yet: I’m kind of happy that it does,” wrote Guardian.

As for Steam, it hasn’t gotten any better. The review consensus is currently sitting at Mostly Negative despite its lowered R499 price tag.

MindsEye is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
