MindsEye Studio Trying to Fix Bugs and Performance Issues as Review Scores Plummet

MindsEye studio, Build a Rocket Boy, says that the team behind the game is “working around the clock” to sort out the various bugs and performance issues plaguing the game.

Believe it or not, MindsEye was released yesterday for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Without a single review, the game’s launch has gone under the radar, and after looking at the game, we know why. I have already shared my thoughts on the poor marketing behind MindsEye, and I predicted it would bomb out of the gate. I wasn’t wrong.

On Steam, user reviews for MindsEye are mixed. Many of the reviews have slammed the game’s poor performance, but many of them have also criticised the gameplay and mediocre story. Some reviews say the story feels uninspired, and the gameplay is generic. Out of 1,200 reviews at the time, over 600 of them are negative.

Images of some of the in-game visual bugs have also popped up online. Characters seem to be deforming on-screen, and texture loading issues are common across all platforms. The studio says that the recommended requirements for running MindsEye are very high, but the team is working to address performance caused by the Unreal Engine 5.6 build.

Bugs in MindsEye are mixed across the board. Some players have fallen through the map while walking around, NPCs seem to ragdoll and have their limbs stretch across the screen, and some bugs even see enemies aim off into the distance and shoot the sky instead of the player. This isn’t good.

The studio says it is working on patches, but at the same time, the list is ever-growing with clear issues in MindsEye. If you can recall, Build a Rocket Boy CEO Mark Gerhard called out media and creators last week for supposedly being paid to say bad things and share negative press around the game. He then backtracked on his statement, saying he meant “bots” are disliking the videos and posting spam negative comments.
