Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning Gets First Teaser Trailer

The first official teaser trailer for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, the eighth and final movie in the Mission: Impossible franchise, has been released online. For the most part, we know very little about the plot other than it’s a direct continuation of 2023’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. The movie is scheduled to hit cinemas on 23 May 2025.

Judging by the teaser trailer, a world-ending event is what Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) has to deal with in this presumably final installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise, though it’s not known how that might happen. In Dead Reckoning Part One, Hunt and his team faced off against a rogue AI that threatened nuclear war, though it looks like the apocalypse is back on the menu. Other than that, you have a lot of shots of Cruise running, driving and hanging from planes. It’s definitely a Mission: Impossible movie.

In case you missed it, the plot description for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One reads:

“Ethan Hunt and the IMF team must track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity if it falls into the wrong hands. With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake, a deadly race around the globe begins. Confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful enemy, Ethan is forced to consider that nothing can matter more than the mission — not even the lives of those he cares about most.”
