You are walking through the mall and you spot it. That Assassin’s Creed T-Shirt staring at you through the window. You have to have it. You have spent countless hours running around Italy, Greece and now England and the shirt will be the ultimate collector’s item. Not to mention, you will look pretty awesome walking through the house wearing it. We are all suckers for this “stuff” and gaming merchandise is bigger and better than ever. Thankfully, the options on where to buy this great “stuff” have expanded with MODE, a new gaming merchandise store now with a physical location and an online marketplace.

I attended the MODE store opening last night and was greeted with an unexpected surprise. Instead of taking up space in an actual store, MODE is a kiosk in the newly revamped Fourways Mall. I was taken back at first because when you are invited to a store opening, you expect a store but the kiosk approach makes sense. It draws more attention to consumers who pass by, costs less and it is a lot more versatile when it comes to displaying stock. The owners tell me that the kiosk is going to be there for three years so this is not another pop-up cellphone cover shop.
So what is MODE? Not only is it a physical place where you can browse gaming merchandise and buy some goodies, but it is also an online store.
I just could not resist
MODE promises that all its products are officially licensed and that statement is clear from its product offerings. The Fortnite T-Shirts are all licensed. The Assassin’s Creed apparel is official Ubisoft merchandise and the little trinkets such as the keyrings and accessories are high quality and all include labels which prove its authenticity.
MODE at Fourways Mall
If you want to visit MODE at Fourways Mall you can find them outside the Mr Price store before you head towards Game (it took me forever to find it only because that new mall is so confusing). The kiosk stands out with its bright orange colours and of course, the gaming merchandise which you will spot a mile away. Everything you can see is for sale but if you like something and can’t get it in your size or model, MODE promises that customers can order at the store and get it delivered.
The MODE kiosk had a load of things on sale including gaming snapback caps from Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Overwatch and more. There’s Fortnite and other gaming T-shirts, Bitty Boomers speakers, gaming-branded power-banks and more.
MODE Online Store
A glance at the online store and my bank card started to cry. At the moment, there are some great Black Friday sales going on at MODE including discounts on these awesome little BlueTooth speakers called Bitty Boomers, as well as some iconic gaming tees from the Assassin’s Creed and Call of Duty. MODE offers free delivery for all orders over R450 which is the standard at most online retailers today. They also ship nationwide and delivery takes between 2-5 working days to get to you. MODE promises that their product range is going to expand as the months go by. They have some new Star Wars and Cyberpunk 2077 merchandise arriving in the middle of December.
