Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a return to form for the franchise and Activision and Infinity Ward has done an excellent job to push out free content for the game. The latest update released yesterday adds more Special Ops missions, new maps and a new mode. Therefore, it is not really that much of a surprised that Modern Warfare is the most-played Call of Duty title, beating out Black Ops, World War II and more.

Activision and Infinity Ward announced the news that not only is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare the most-played game in the franchise this generation (since 2012) but it has also reached a massive sales milestone. The game has earned over $1 billion in sales, which in Rand at the current Dollar to Rand conversion rate is a whopping R14.3 billion.
According to Activision (as reported by CharlieIntel), this makes Modern Warfare the best selling premium game of 2019. With this news, Activision also dropped some extremely impressive stats for the game, explaining that:

Upon release, the title featured a series of firsts for Call of Duty, including crossplay and cross-progression support, as well as the removal of Season Pass and delivery of new post-release content coming free to all players on all platforms.
The momentum for Modern Warfare from day one has been incredible. Players are having a great time and are continuing to engage across the multiplayer experience at the highest level in years. We’re also seeing new franchise highs for this console generation in hours played, hours per player and average daily players.
