The open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds is finally available today on consooles and PC after a round of early access to PlayStation Plus subscribers this week. Dataminers have managed to dig through the game’s files and found a list of returning monsters that have yet to be announced by Capcom, including one fan-favourite flagship monster. Be warned, the datamine reveals spoilers for the unrevealed monsters so proceed with caution.
As documented by Reddit, dataminers dug through the open beta files for Monster Hunter Wilds looking for potential unannounced monsters. They struck gold as four monster names were discovered. One name has fans excited as Gore Magala, the flagship monster of Monster Hunter 4, has been found in the files. Gore Magala has never officially appeared in a modern Monster Hunter game apart from Monster Hunter Rise‘s expansion, Sunbreak.
The following monsters were datamined from the open beta:
- 0005 Gravios (Monster Hunter 1, not seen since MHGU)
- 0009 Gypceros (Monster Hunter 1, not seen since MHGU)
- 0070 Nerscylla (Monster Hunter 4, not seen since MHGU)
- 0071 Gore Magala (Monster Hunter 4, previously appeared in MHRise: Sunbreak)
Apart from Gore Magala which has been a fan-favourite monster since its debut, fans are also particularly excited for the return of Nerscylla, the arachnid monster that also made its debut in Monster Hunter 4. That said, Capcom has yet to announced another popular monster, Lagiacrus, which has been highly requested by the community since 2018’s Monster Hunter World.
In related news, PC players might want to check out the system requirements for Monster Hunter Wilds to find out if they can run the game. Capcom has also revealed a themed limited edition PS5 DualSense controller and faceplate that’s currently only available to pre-order in Japan ahead of the game’s launch in February next year.
Monster Hunter Wilds releases on 28 February 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
