Capcom recently held a showcase to detail all the changes and new features coming to Monster Hunter Wilds and it’s quite a bit of new content. The first free title update will arrive on consoles and PC this April, bringing not only Mizutsune but arch-tempered Rey Dau as well as Zoh Shia as a High Rank quest without having to resort to Low Rank’s story mode to fight it again. Apart from the monsters, there will also be a new gathering hub called the Grand Hub, new gear, the introduction of Arena Quests and a teaser for Lagiacrus.
Starting on 4 April, Monster Hunter Wilds players will be able to take on Mizutsune in the Scarlet Forest, a formidable and graceful monster that deals its damage with bubbles holding various ailments and debuffs. The quest can be started by speaking to a specific NPC in the forest area once players reach HR 16. Arch-tempered Rey Dau, a more powerful version of Rey Dau, will be available to hunt as an Event Quest at select dates in late April. The powered up beast will come with its own new gamma set of armour.
Zoh Shia, the final boss of the Low Rank story, will now be available in High Rank to hunt. Similar to Jin Dahaad, it will randomly spawn in the Ruins of Wyveria. Players will need to save those investigations if they want to hunt it and unlock its awesome new armour and weapons.
Capcom is also adding a central gathering hub for players to meet and even take part in mini-games called The Grand Hub. Here, most of the activities usually present in base camps can be easily accessed. Players can compete in Barrel Bowling, which seems to involve rolling explosive barrels down a hill as it knocks over various items. At night, a Diva shows up that will sing to the crowds in the Grand Hub.
Arena Quests from past games makes a return which gives players the ultimate challenge: use predetermined gear to battle monsters in the Wounded Hollow. Completing these quests will yield some decent rewards too like new decorations and more.
Finally, the first free title update will also let you customise the appearance of Alma, even going as far as changing her outfit and glasses. Of course, the team left players on a cliffhanger with a tease of the game’s second title update set to arrive in summer 2025: Lagiacrus is finally on its way.
