Monster Hunter Wilds Gets Release Date and Flagship Monster

Capcom has revealed the release date for Monster Hunter Wilds along with the game’s flagship monster named Arkveld. During last night’s PlayStation State of Play, Capcom debuted a new trailer for its upcoming monster slaying RPG, showcasing a new location, monsters and story elements. The game is currently pinned with a release date of 28 February 2025 for consoles and PC.

The flagship monster of Monster Hunter Wilds is named Arkveld, described as, “A monster known among the commission as the White Wraith, described as having unique chain-like appendages extending from its wings. A species long thought to have been extinct, its ecology remains shrouded in mystery.” It’s unclear if Arkveld is classified as an Elder Dragon or not.

The latest gameplay trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds also showed off some new monsters that players can encounter in the new forest location, promising much more dense environments than its predecessor, Monster Hunter World.

Capcom also unveiled the key art for the game (which will be featured as the official box art):

In case you missed it, Monster Hunter Wilds will be the first game in the series to feature crossplay support across all platforms, meaning players on PS5 can play with friends on Xbox and PC or vice versa. In the past, co-op in Monster Hunter games was limited to players playing on one specific platform.

Among the other features already confirmed for the game, Capcom also revealed that players will be able to wear both male and female armour sets instead of the designs being limited to genders. A report from last month estimated that Wilds‘ Windward Plains map could be twice as big as the Wildspire Waste map from World (it’s speculated that there will be at least five of these enormous biomes to explore).

Monster Hunter Wilds has a release date of 28 February 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Check out the latest trailer below:
