Monster Hunter Wilds Review

Monster Hunter Wilds Hits Overwhelmingly Negative Reviews on Steam

Monster Hunter Wilds has hit an all-time low user review on Steam following Capcom’s lack of updates and performance fixes for the game. Monster Hunter Wilds launched back in February and already at launch, the PC port was plagued with some nasty performance issues and visual bugs. It seems nothing has been done to fix the problems almost four months later.

But the performance issues aren’t the only problem. Users have complained about the lack of content in Monster Hunter Wilds. Many of whom say there’s just nothing to do and Capcom has been trailing behind with game updates which are meant to keep players coming back for more.

In my review of Monster Hunter Wilds earlier this year, I complained about this exact issue. I said that the game lacks life, content, substance and is just generally a mediocre experience. Not to mention the nasty visuals that make the game look like something from the last generation.

On Steam, 142,700 reviews are mixed and 11,481 reviews are negative. It has resulted in an all-time low score for not only the Monster Hunter series but it is also the lowest-scored Capcom game on Steam.

Capcom is expected to host a Monster Hunter Wilds showcase this month where it plans to debut content for the game. However, fans are still concerned this showcase will likely announce one monster and still ignore the gameplay issues and performance bugs.

Already, fans on social media have been slamming Capcom’s posts with comments related to so-called “promised” updates. According to the leak, the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds showcase is only going to debut two new monsters, add the Arch-Tempered Uth Duna, and layered weapon support. Of course, it will also bring new premium cosmetic items which are another sore topic for the fans.

Whether or not Capcom plans to do a mass overhaul for Monster Hunter Wilds is unclear. The game is already the second-best-selling title of 2025 so perhaps there’s no need to drive players to buy the game.
