Capcom has revealed that players will be able to wear both male and female-styled armour sets in Monster Hunter Wilds regardless of how they create their character at the start of the game.
Essentially, this removes all gender restrictions that Monster Hunter games previously set in place. Up to now, if your character was female, you were only able to craft female-styled armour sets. Of course, these sets didn’t offer any advantages over the male sets apart from the visuals. However, sometimes a female helmet from a certain monster looked better than the male version, for example.
Capcom revealed the change during its Gamescom Monster Hunter Wilds stream. The studio says that no matter what character you decide to create at the start, there will now be double the armour set styles to choose from.
We don’t know how this will work yet exactly. We don’t know if you can simply craft a male armour and toggle it to the female version or if you’ll need to craft what you want from the get-go. It does mean that players might have to grind a bit more for resources and materials if they want to own both. You know, because Fashion Hunter is a major part of a Monster Hunter game.
Fans of the game have rejoiced at the news. Various Monster Hunter communities have praised Capcom for making the move. Players appreciate the sheer variety that comes with the change, regardless of how modern it makes the game. Right now, it is more about having more style choices rather than inclusivity. Of course, some gamers won’t see that and accuse Capcom of being too woke.
Monster Hunter Wilds is expected to launch in early 2025 and could be one of the biggest game launches of the year. Catch up on the latest trailer below that shows off a new ballerina spider monster thing fight.
