Monster Hunter Wilds has been out for almost two weeks now and many players are slowly crossing the Low Rank finish line to tackle the long end-game High Rank grind. Of course, with the right build and strategies, you can speedrun monster kills in a few minutes if you’re skilled enough. However, some players are using cheese strats to now finish hunts in less than 2 seconds by simply using poison.
As reported by VG247, some players are using poison ammo to try and cheese the fastest kill times we’ve ever seen in Monster Hunter Wilds. Basically, using poison ammo doesn’t start a quest. It doesn’t seem to aggro the monster either as environmental damage doesn’t count as a quest trigger. So you can technically sit back and poison a wandering monster to the brink of death, then swoop in and land the killing blow or capture the monster. This results in astonishing hunt times like 1.53 seconds.
Unfortunately, this is a process that takes about 9-10 minutes as it requires you to reapply poison multiple times without getting too close to trigger it into a fight. Since most quests can be completed normally in that time too – maybe even less – it’s not exactly the most time-efficient way to kill monsters. This also robs of you of the sweet materials you get from hitting monsters with Focus Strikes.
However, if you’re just looking for a neat way to acquire ridiculous quest times, you’re free to use the poison cheesing method. It hasn’t been detected or patched out by Capcom either, so we can probably expect a fix soon now that this strat is gaining some traction online.
Last week, Capcom announced that Monster Hunter Wilds sold a staggering 8 million copies in just 3 days, making it the fastest-selling Capcom game of all time. It’s currently available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
