Capcom recently released the first Title Update for Monster Hunter Wilds and boy does it address the “too easy” criticisms with its new monsters. The Title Update introduced a handful of fights that the community has deemed pretty tough, including an arch-temperered Rey Dau, a tempered Mizutsune and the High Rank version of the game’s final boss, Zoh Shia, which is no walk in the park.
The latest major Title Update for Monster Hunter Wilds brought a lot of new and fantastic features but chief among them are the new and more powerful returning monsters. Mizutsune provides a decent challenge but the monster’s tempered form is a daunting challenge, with some attacks capable of one-shotting hunters, even with the best-equipped defence.
Meanwhile, players are also sweating at the challenge imposed by arch-tempered Rey Dau, a more powerful version of the Windward Plains apex that hits harder and acts more aggressively than its base or tempered form. Finally, Capcom re-introduced Zoh Shia as a High Rank hunt who, up until the update, could only be fought once during the Low Rank story. High Rank Zoh Shia’s aggressive moveset and faster rate of attacks are punishing players.
Most of all, some are celebrating the difficulty of the new monsters while others think it’s a tad bit unfair. Regardless, Capcom seems to be directly addressing some of the criticisms aimed at Monster Hunter Wilds at launch, particularly that monsters were too easy and died too quickly. With the introduction of the new monsters, players can spend upwards of 15 minutes or more on a hunt with ramped up challenge.
Despite some of the criticisms, Monster Hunter Wilds sold a tremendous amount of copies at launch, selling 8 million in just three days. This not only makes it one of the fastest-selling Capcom games ever but one of the fastest-selling in recent memory, matching the impressive sales numbers of new Call of Duty titles or Rockstar Games releases. The game is currently available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
