Come September, you will be able to purchase a new edition of Monster Hunter World called the “Master Edition” that will contain both the base game and the expansion. If you already have the game then the expansion will be available as a standalone upgrade.

The new region you will travel to is called the Hoarfrost Reach. The region is on the main island from the core game. As it is called Iceborne, the expansion has a large focus on snow which plays a big part in the gameplay experience and the temperature system from the base game.

Players will struggle to walk in the heavy snow and run away from danger due to it hindering your movement. New monsters in Iceborne will use the environment against you. Banboro is a giant wyvern that flies above the snowy trees. Beotodus buries itself under the snow and strikes you from below. Of course, these monster will not only fight you but each other too like in the main game.

Iceborne features a brand new gadget that will be part of the Slinger. This “Clutch Claw” allows you to freely grapple and mantle enemies without needing to get to higher ground or leap from above. New gear and character upgrades will also be available in Iceborne as well as a new Master Rank.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is looking to be one huge expansion with a load of new enemies to hunt down, and things to do. The expansion will be available on 6 September 2019 for PS4 and Xbox One with the PC release following in December.
