Shortly after dataminers found dialogue reactions for Scream‘s Ghostface in the game files for Mortal Kombat 1, it seems like further digging was done to uncover several new DLC characters coming to the fighting game. These include some fan-favourite characters like Noob Saibot and Jade, while others mention Cassie Cage, Cyrax and Conan.
Following a datamine leak of the latest fighting game from NetherRealm Studios, Twitter user thethiny revealed several unannounced DLC characters discovered in the game’s files. Apart from the guest appearance of Ghostface, the rest include Noob Saibot, Cassie Cage, Cyrax, Conan, Jade, Kung Jin and an “unknown girl.” It seems like NetherRealm wants to add legacy characters from the franchise to the game at some point, possibly in the second Kombat Pack.

Despite its odd title, Mortal Kombat 1 is actually the twelfth mainline entry in the long-running fighting game franchise. Described as a reboot of the universe, it follows the events of Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath which saw Liu Kang ascend to become the new Fire God. In the process, Fire God Liu Kang resets the universe and erases the timeline of the previous games. The story of Mortal Kombat 1 retells the origins stories of several iconic characters while also mixing things up with unexpected twists.
The official description for Mortal Kombat 1 provided by Steam reads:
“It’s In Our Blood! Discover a reborn Mortal Kombat Universe created by the Fire God Liu Kang. Mortal Kombat 1 ushers in a new era of the iconic franchise with a new fighting system, game modes, and fatalities!”
