Mortal Kombat 1 officially launches tomorrow and ahead of its release, developer NetherRealm Studios has uploaded a launch trailer showing more brutal fatalities, finishers, characters in action and our first look at some Shang Tsung and Reiko gameplay.
The launch trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 takes a look at some of Shang Tsung’s basic gameplay as well as a pretty grizzly finisher for Kung Lao. Story content was also explored, showing a rebooted universe by the new Fire God Liu Kang following the events of Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath. However, Outworld still poses a threat which introduces the likes of empress Sindel and General Shao, who has yet to take up the mantle as Shao Kahn.

The official description for Mortal Kombat 1 provided by Steam reads:
“It’s In Our Blood! Discover a reborn Mortal Kombat Universe created by the Fire God Liu Kang. Mortal Kombat 1 ushers in a new era of the iconic franchise with a new fighting system, game modes, and fatalities!”
NetherRealm Studios has also revealed the game’s official download size, at least for PS5, and it’s pretty massive. Additionally, the developer confirmed that the game will not support crossplay at launch so if you’re planning on playing with friends on different platforms on release, you will have to wait for a post-launch update that adds the feature.
If you’re a trophy hunter and want to collect all of Mortal Kombat 1‘s PS5 trophies on your journey to Platinum, it might require a bit of time and patience. PSN recently updated the game’s trophy list to reveal 51 in total that you’ll have to acquire. You can read up on the full trophy list right here.
