NetherRealm Studios has shown a first look at the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 DLC character, Omni-Man, from the hit Amazon Prime animated television series Invincible. The character will once again be voiced by veteran actor J.K. Simmons who also voiced the powerful hero in the show.
The new gameplay trailer for Omni-Man was revealed during New York Comic Con over the weekend, showing his brutish powers and abilities including a gruesome but familiar fatality involving a train (directly lifted from an infamous scene in the animated series). J.K. Simmons, who also voice acted in Baldur’s Gate 3 this year as the villain Ketheric Thorm, provided unique dialogue for Omni-Man and his presence in the new universe.

Omni-Man will release in Mortal Kombat 1 this November via Kombat Pack 1, which is available for free to players who purchased the Premium Edition. Alternatively, you’ll also be able to purchase the Kombat Pack separately if you choose. Other DLC characters coming in the pack include Quan Chi, Peacemaker, Ermac, Takashi Takeda and Homelander from The Boys TV series.
In other news, the Nintendo Switch version of Mortal Kombat 1 has been getting a lot of heat online due to its muddy visuals and numerous performance issues. NetherRealm Studios recently released a massive 27 GB update on Switch to fix almost everything including gameplay balance changes, visual improvements, performance and loading time improvements, stability fixes and much more. Hopefully this means a smoother experience for Switch players.
Mortal Kombat series co-creator Ed Boon says he’s open to the idea of featuring John Wick as a potential guest character in the games, though it’s been difficult trying to secure him for Mortal Kombat 1. Previous datamines also unearthed hidden dialogue files for Ghostface, who many presumed would be a DLC character in the first Kombat Pack, though it looks like the iconic Scream villain might be saved for a later date.
Mortal Kombat 1 is now available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch. Make sure you also read our full review. Watch the Omni-Man trailer below:
