New Line Cinema has announced a few new additions to the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 movie and they’re the villains we’ve been waiting for. The roles of Shao Kahn, Quan Chi and Sindel have all been cast, played by actors Martyn Ford, Damon Herriman and Ana Thu Nguyen, respectively. Desmond Chiam has also joined the cast to portray Edenian King Jerrod. The anticipated sequel will begin shooting this month.
Martyn Ford is a British actor and bodybuilder, often described as the “scariest man alive” and I can confidently say that this is true after a quick Google search. Standing at 6 feet and 8 inches tall, he definitely has the physique to take on the role of Outworld emperor Shao Kahn. Ford has notably appeared in movies such as F9: The Fast Saga, Kingsman: The Golden Circle and the Netflix series, The Sandman, where he played Squatterbloat.

The casting of Mortal Kombat 2 teases that Earthrealm will be up against some of the most dangerous villains from the franchise. The plot is still unknown at this point, though it will pick up after the events of the first movie that saw the heroes preparing to face off against Outworld in the impending deadly tournament to come.
As for other new actors joining the sequel, The Boys and Dredd actor Karl Urban is still rumoured to be playing Johnny Cage. Tati Gabrielle, best known for The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, You and Uncharted, has been cast as Jade. Returning actors include Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han/Sub-Zero, Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang and Mehcad Brooks as Jax. Adeline Rudolph will portray Kitana.
Mortal Kombat 2 doesn’t have a release date yet.
