Apple Intelligence

Most Apple Intelligence Features Won’t Arrive Until iOS 18.4

Apple Intelligence is the latest new tech to arrive from the iPhone maker. Announced during its WWDC event in June, the AI tools are set to land across iPhone 15 Pro and M devices. However, Apple hasn’t been very forthcoming when it comes to the official rollout plans for this tech. The company simply showed them off and claimed most of the features will only arrive next year.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple will begin rolling out the new Apple Intelligence features later this year in iOS 18 but major new features won’t be ready until iOS 18.4. This means the current release of iOS 18 which is in beta, will only include a handful of the AI tools announced during WWDC.

Gurman says that Apple will start adding major AI to products in the early “Spring” (March 2025). He didn’t say what features will arrive first but it is claimed that many Apple Intelligence features won’t be ready before iOS 18.4.

Keep in mind that Apple usually launches its new iOS right after its annual iPhone announcement. So if history shows, we will get the public launch of iOS 18 in September. iOS 18.4 will then launch later down the line. Likely early 2025 onwards. This launch will be the one that includes most of the so-called “Siri features”.

By the look of things, iOS 18 will initially add features like ChatGPT integration, the new Siri interface and some in-app Siri integration to the platform. However, features such as deep Siri system integration, generative image creation and the AI-powered emoji creation won’t be available until next year.

Apple is definitely taking its time rolling out these AI tools. While most brands have been sailing the AI ship for a while now, Apple is seemingly the last tech brand to do so. Delaying most of the standout features into 2025 and limiting them to only current iPhone 15 Pro devices means most Apple users won’t even get to use the tools for a while.
