It’s always interesting to see what gamers have been playing on a specific platform throughout a year. Over the weekend, Sony revealed the PlayStation Store’s most-downloaded games of 2018 with FIFA 19 taking the top spot. Now, we have the most-played games of 2018 for the Nintendo Switch and it is a pretty interesting list as well.

Everyone and their cat knows that Fortnite is taking over the world and it shows. Fortnite has topped the list, followed by five Nintendo exclusive titles. However, one has to remember that Fortnite is free-to-play, so it is much easier to download and run the game than to fork out R800 to R1000 for a big new title if you need something to play. Further, it was reported all the way back in October that Fortnite was already installed on almost half of the Nintendo Switch consoles worldwide, which is pretty impressive.
We see a lot of exclusives making it into the 21 most-played games of 2018 for the Nintendo Switch, from Super Mario Odyssey to two tennis titles and, of course, Breath of the Wild. Check out the full list of 21 most-played games of 2018 for the Switch as revealed by Nintendo below.

Love it or hate it, Fortnite is here to stay and it is dominating. Unlike the PlayStation Store’s most-downloaded titles, FIFA 19 doesn’t sit on top of Nintendo’s most-played games of 2018 list, but it is up there. It is, however, excellent to see the top five made up of four awesome exclusives for the Nintendo Switch.
