MSI is giving its controversial Claw handheld gaming device a second chance with the new Claw 8 AI Plus. The revamped portable device isn’t meant to be a replacement for the existing model but more a “pro” take on it.
For starters, the MSI Claw 8 AI Plus now comes with a larger 8-inch display compared to the 7-inch found in the previous model. It is also a 120Hz VRR display similar to the previous version.
The big difference between the early 2024 model and the MSI Claw 8 AI Plus is the inclusion of the Intel Lunar Lake CPU. This is Intel’s new notebook CPU which comes with some impressive performance. The chip includes baked-on memory and various AI enhancements. It also packs enhanced ray tracing cores.
MSI is including the Lunar Lake CPU in its new Claw 8 AI Plus. The company hasn’t commented on the performance users can expect from it just yet. So we hope the new CPU can deliver what the previous model failed on.
MSI has also increased the battery from 53Wh to 80Wh. This battery bump puts the MSI Claw 8 AI Plus in line with the recently announced ASUS ROG Ally X. By the look of the design, this MSI Claw 8 AI Plus could be seen as a redesign. However, MSI has yet to release any official images of the product. We only have the images above and below to go on.

MSI has also announced a Special Edition Fallout-themed Claw device. However, this specific model is a Special Edition based on the original 7-inch model. So you won’t be able to purchase the MSI Claw 8 AI Plus with this skin. A strange decision on the company’s part.
