MSI Claw 8 AI Plus

MSI Claw Successor Won’t Launch Until 2025

The MSI Claw was likely one of 2024’s biggest tech fails. The unit launched earlier this year and it bombed. With poor performance and a higher price tag than better and faster PC handhelds, MSI struggled to sell the hardware to gamers. The company did announce a new model during Computex, however. It would make use of the new Intel Lunar Lake and it was expected to release before the end of the year.

Sadly, it doesn’t look like MSI will get around to launching the device this year. The so-called MSI Claw 8 AI Plus has seemingly been delayed from September into 2025 according to ComputerBase. The site claims MSI says the new Claw will debut at CES 2025.

The hardware will boast the recently unveiled Intel Lunar Lake CPUs, now called the Intel Core Ultra 200V series. The chips are expected to pack some beefier GPU performance over the MSI Claw’s current Intel Core Ultra 5 135H CPU.

Given Intel only recently unveiled these chips, MSI likely needs more time to get this Claw up and running. It would also make sense for the brand to wait for reviews of these new chips to drop and perhaps improve the performance accordingly. Keep in mind that ASUS also just recently launched the ROG Ally X, so the market doesn’t really have space for another PC handheld.

We don’t know what Intel Core Ultra 200V series chip the MSI Claw 8 AI Plus will include at this rate. Intel released a full list of them and all the specs, You can catch up on all the details here.
