Mycopunk has been announced by Devolver Digital. The new co-op shooter looks quite familiar to those who have played Deep Rock Galactic. Essentially, players are robot rejects who have been hired by a universal megacorp to help uncover the root cause of a planet-wide fungus apocalypse that has gripped an alien planet.
You are launched in a dropship down to the planet and have to complete various objectives while fighting for your life by defending against fungus creatures that have taken control of the technology on the surface.
When players aren’t exploring the surface and doing work for the evil corporation, they can sit back and relax at the Roach Motel. Mycopunk also claims to boast a lot of customisation, including weapons and abilities for players to tweak in order to create unique builds.
At the moment, Mycopunk doesn’t have a release date, but there is a demo available on Steam for you to try out. Given that the demo is live, we might see the game sometime in the near future. Head on over to Steam here to give it a go.
A ragtag squad of robot rejects is hired by the SAXON corporation and given one last shot at profitable glory (and avoiding the scrap heap). They are the New Atlas Hazard Crew, a ramshackle squad of exterminators sent to uncover the mysteries behind a planet-wide fungal catastrophe.
Embark on a series of dangerous planet-side missions to drive back the mycological menace. Could this be a simple natural disaster like they claim? And did SAXON really misfile your taxes? Or was that your own fault?
