A mysterious countdown timer has appeared on the official Capcom website and internet users are slowly losing their cool trying to figure out what it could be for. The timer has a dedicated page called none other than “countdown” and when visited, a timer appears in a sort of glitch animation.

The Capcom timer is set to end on Sunday, 20 February at 7 am CAT. That’s basically all we can gather from the webpage at this point.

Even when inspecting the site code, there’s nothing that hints at what announcement might come out of this timer. The image is simply titled “download.png” so Capcom has tried its hardest to keep spoilers hidden from view.

Over on Reddit, fans are speculating a number of things. The first guess is that Capcom is announcing a Resident Evil related project. This could be Resident Evil 4 Remake, which has already leaked last week and confirmed by insiders. However, other games are also on the cards too.

Fans think Capcom might announce DLC for Resident Evil Village. The game will soon celebrate its one-year anniversary and the studio has already confirmed it was working on DLC for the title.

Of course, this is not a Capcom timer without the extreme predictions too. Some fans seem to think (or hope) that the countdown is for Dragon’s Dogma 2. The game has been rumoured to be in development for some years now. With that being said, fans are now treating it as a “will they won’t they” situation as if the project will never see the light of day. Whatever it is, hopefully, it is something exciting. Capcom currently has no release lineup planned for the year ahead. Even its multiplayer game, Resident Evil: REVerse was delayed last year and has never been seen since.
