Need for Speed Unbound Releasing in December For New-Gen Consoles and PC

Need for Speed Unbound is officially a thing. EA Games announced that the next entry in the racing game series will release on 2 December this year for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. That means PS4 and Xbox One players won’t be getting the new racer as EA looks towards the future and leaves last-gen behind. The game is being built on EA’s Frostbite Engine and will run at 4k 60FPS on PS5 and Xbox.

EA Games says that Need for Speed Unbound features an all-new signature art style that blends elements of the freshest street art with the most realistic-looking cars in the series. The game features a new single-player campaign that sees players race across the city called Lakeshore to rack up cash and make their mark in the racing scene.

Need for Speed Unbound

Step into the world of Lakeshore City where a robbery at a family auto-shop tears two friends apart and marks the rise from rookie to top racer on a journey to win the ultimate street race and reclaim the priceless car that was stolen. To get to the top, risks must be taken. Choose how and when to put it all on the line, pulling huge drifts on the street, outdriving the cops, or placing side bets with your own earnings against rival racers. But remember, the faster you go, the more heated the chase is… Think smart, make bold decisions and run the streets of Lakeshore.

By the sound of things, Need for Speed Unbound features multiplayer too. In addition, Need for Speed Unbound will feature an online mode where players can contribute their best racing routes on the server for other racers to take advantage of. EA Games has yet to detail how this mode works. It states:

Take your racing to the next level and make your friends your rivals in multiplayer. Connect with the online street racing community in underground Meetups across Lakeshore and discover the best routes through the city in Freeroam.

A$AP Rocky also seemingly plays a major part in the game. He will offer the player a range of challenges for them to complete and as you do so, you’ll unlock more cosmetic items and ultimately, his own car.

Did we say style? Keep your look fresh and get noticed with hundreds of cosmetic items including fits from some of the world’s pioneering fashion innovators and endless car customization options including brand-new Driving Effects that will help you light up the streets of Lakeshore. Don’t forget… to look the part, you gotta sound the part too. Bump a genre-defying soundtrack of trailblazing artists from the world of hip-hop led by A$AP Rocky and AWGE, including the world premiere of A$AP Rocky’s brand new track “Sh*ttin’ Me,” also featured in the reveal trailer.

Need for Speed Unbound is set to launch on 2 December 2022 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The game is now available to pre-order in both the standard edition and the deluxe edition.
